We are excited to be the beneficiary charity for the Pi Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi) fraternity at the University of Wisconsin – Madison’s 4th annual ‘Life is Great’ event. The celebration will be held on April 16th, 2022 with live music and local businesses participating.
Eli Kreshek, an AEPi brother, spent a portion of his childhood as a patient at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to fix three fractured petacles in his spine. His hospital stay changed him and his family. They witnessed firsthand the incredible work of the doctors, nurses, and staff that went above and beyond during his medical journey there. Eli and the rest of the Kreshek family wanted to find a way to give back. They partnered with two other patient families – the Stromsborgs and the Apfelbergs and founded the nonprofit, Change 4 Children’s Foundation.
While C4C started in Los Angeles, our operations have expanded over the years to children’s hospitals across the country. It is through our Foundation that we hope to improve the lives of children who must spend time in a hospital. Medical studies have shown that clinical outcomes are significantly improved when the mental and emotional state of patients and their support networks are bolstered. We do this with various campaigns and fundraisers for child life services initiatives, including providing PPE and art supplies during the pandemic, collecting change with our donation jars, and more. A big part of our mission is to empower young people to be philanthropic within their own communities and to focus on improving the patient experience for their peers in need. Eli’s and AEPi’s efforts here are incredible examples of young men and women helping other young men and women. AEPi’s goal is to raise $35,000 this year for our Foundation. In turn, we will be donating 100% of the funds to the Child Life Services Department at the American Family Children’s Hospital located in Madison, Wisconsin. They offer the most advanced medical care directed by University of Wisconsin pediatricians and pediatric surgeons – all in a state-of-the-art, family-friendly facility.
